Deplorable health standards, onslaught of terminal diseases and falling productivity of health workers in Tanzania, indicate how it has been ineffective in translating health expenditure for public good. With a per capita income of $280, 30% of population survives on less than $1 a day. Over and above this, 0.7mn has been living with AIDS.

For information, ITC Hotels Limited and Ansal Hotels Limited merged with the company in 2004. Finally, paperboards, specialty paper and packaging are cash cows for ITC and should be encouraged beyond current levels as they are the second highest contributors to ITC’s bottom line, with profits of Rs.1.81 billion in H1, 2005 (a growth of 20.9% over the previous year), and revenues of Rs.9.3 billion (a growth of 22% over the previous year). This is the time for ITC to accept that a narrow focus on core competencies is the way forward. Hold your horses Clint, for the way to the ITC dough surely is the sweet ciggy way!

FIGHT AGAINST DISASTER

Chomsky’s apparently simple political stance is rooted in an anarchism and collectivism which generates its own sense of individuality and complexity. He was drawn to the study of language and syntax by a mentor, Selig Harrison, who also combined libertarianism with linguistics. Chomsky’s key idea of an innate, shared linguistic capacity for co-operation and innovation is a positive, rather than purely normative, rebuttal of the Straussian argument that natural human inequality vitiates democracy.

Yet there is perhaps a silver lining in the clouds over New Orleans. Perhaps America, and especially Bush, will be persuaded to join the rest of the world in the fight against poverty and to protect our planet’s environment.
