Indeed, like he mentioned, the Catholic Cathedral, the Al Khulafa Al Rashiudin Mosque and the Nda Mariam Coptic Cathedral are the Asmarinos’ prefectures of pride and praise. Off the subject maybe, but I felt a sudden surge of gratitude for this thing called travel that is probably the simplest means to learning and more importantly, unlearning… The drive from the current capital to the former capital of Eritrea – Massawa – ought to be an itinerary agenda by itself. Such was the passage through panoramic precincts in Semhar province tiding many a twist and curve in an exhilarating getaway to the largest Eritrean port by the Red Sea. “While the Italians chose to shift capital to Asmara, this port city remained testimony to the grandeur and greed that trade tags along with it.”
